Recently, I fell in love with the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera. When I visited the Akagera National Park for the first time, I was surprised to learn that the protected area encompasses ten lakes.

Two years ago, I indulged in an off-road adventure ride from Kayonza to Kirehe via Lake Nasho. After spending a night in Ngoma, I took another off-the-beaten path to Bugesera. On my way to Bugesera, I saw four lakes namely Sake, Birara, Gashora and Mirayi.
So, how many lakes are there in Rwanda? I don’t know. What I know is that I have visited twenty lakes and counting. My latest lake adventure featured Lake Mugesera. You can read the digital booklet highlighting the Mugesera getaway through the banner below.
